Amazon Valley Institute

It is a missionary school and ministerial training program, offering a Bachelor's degree in Theology and/or Pastoral Ministry, in partnership with UniFil - Filadélfia University Centre. The course lasts for two years, takes place within our missionary base, and receives indigenous people, riverside dwellers, and individuals from various parts of the Amazon to study theology and missions, free of charge.

Classes

With an intensive workload, students study both theological and missionary subjects in a comprehensive manner, with an emphasis on Christian character, aiming for personal improvement to become excellent missionaries in their communities.

Practice

Students have the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned on weekends by visiting the riverside communities of Curarizinho, Pacatuba, or others in the metropolitan region of Iranduba, to conduct worship services, house visits, social actions, evangelism, and discipleship.

Missionary school

Experiencing what it means to be the church, students are trained for the missionary field. It is during this time that the fruit of the Spirit can be developed in their lives.

Translating the Bible into the native language is a process that, for most ethnic groups, would still take many decades to complete. Therefore, they are the living letter. They learn here to depend on God and receive the keys and strategies to reach their region.

During their time at the base, students receive, free of charge, thanks to donations and contributions from the entire church in Brazil, their studies (including the tuition fees for the degree program), full meals, bedding, personal hygiene kits, lodging, and all the necessary resources to be discipled, truly learning who Jesus is.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

Special methodology

With a compiled, modern, and accessible methodology, students from remote communities are able to develop their academic skills with the best pedagogical and pastoral support.

Language course

The Brazilian border is formed by countries that speak, in addition to indigenous languages, Spanish to the west and English in the northeastern Amazon. For proper preparation for missionary work, students also take classes in these languages, depending on the geographical location of their community of origin and/or where they will work after graduation.

Transcultural learning

Studying at the Institute is a great transcultural experience for everyone: contact with new cultures, realities, and languages, as the missionary base brings together people from various ethnicities of the Amazon and from all over Brazil.

Emphasis on communication

Breaking language barriers, as well as experiencing the hospitality of our missionary base, provides indigenous and riverside students with a suitable place to develop their communication skills – an emphasis throughout the entire course – so that they can become skilled preachers of the gospel to native peoples.

Bachelor's degree

We believe in the potential of every young person, from urban areas to those born in the most remote regions, in terms of educational goals. The study and appreciation of each indigenous language can bring dignity to peoples who have previously experienced so many situations of inequality in access to educational opportunities in Brazil.

Today, in partnership with Filadélfia University Centre (UniFil), students of the Amazon Valley Institute have the opportunity to pursue higher education in Theology and/or Pastoral Ministry, becoming bachelors and being able to enroll in postgraduate programs throughout Brazil and abroad. It is also possible, alongside the Institute’s curriculum, to begin studies in other technical areas that will be needed for the missionary field to which they will be sent, such as nursing, pedagogy, engineering, business administration, social work, among others.

For the entire municipality of Iranduba and the metropolitan region, slots in UniFil’s distance learning courses are available to all residents. With affordable payment options and only one in-person exam required per semester at the campus, located at the headquarters of our Mission in downtown Iranduba, this is your opportunity to finally advance in your professional training. This is also a great way to support our students, as part of the amount paid for your tuition helps cover the costs of our riverside and indigenous students’ tuition fees.
